How I arrived at RWM:

“In 2007 I decided that I wanted to change careers from food co-ops to finance. I joined a major brokerage firm on January 1, 2008. Being at a big brokerage firm through the financial crisis was the single best learning experience I could have asked for. It truly had a formative impact on my view of this industry. It was clear to me that the future was not in the brokerage world. Meeting Josh and Barry in 2012, then joining them was akin to joining your favorite band.”

Favorite part of the job:

“The people. I read somewhere that if you’re the smartest person in the room that you should leave that room – if that’s the case, I’m not leaving this room anytime soon. That’s true for my coworkers, as well as our clients.”

When I’m Not Working:

“My wife Lori and I live on Long Island with our teenage son Owen. My daughter Juliana is a Social Worker in NJ. When I’m not leading the advisors here at RWM, and working with my partners to grow and develop our firm – I’m tending my garden and plotting our next meal, we like to grow and cook food in our house. Prior to the recent situation we’re all in, we loved to travel – and are looking forward to getting back to it.”

How I arrived at RWM:

“I was following Josh Brown’s work, both on Twitter and the blog, and what he was talking about really resonated with me. My career began with a sales position at a life insurance company and the things that Josh was writing about, in terms of career incentives and being a fiduciary, really resonated with me. I was lucky enough to meet him at a train station in the town we both grew up in, and the rest as they say, is history.”

Favorite part of the job:

“I have a deep respect for how hard investing for the long-term is, so knowing that we’re helping people on their journey gives me tremendous satisfaction. I love the fact that we’re helping our clients achieve their goals, which is why people invest in the first place.”

When I’m Not Working:

“Like most people, nothing gives me more pleasure than spending time with my family. When they go to sleep, I love to read and write. I’m very excited for my first book to come out. Big Mistakes: The Best Investors and Their Worst Investments inverts the traditional financial book. Rather than look at how Warren Buffett and other super investors built their fortune, I study their biggest mistakes and how they were able to overcome them.”
